For years, I’ve dreamed of creating a homestead — a place where I can grow my own food, host workshops, and build a life that’s intentional and fulfilling. I imagine tiny homes for Airbnb guests, gardens full of fresh produce, jars of canned goods lining the shelves, and spaces where people can come together to learn, create, and connect. I see animals roaming safely, spaces for kids to explore, and seasonal events that bring community together.
But for a long time, I could think of a million reasons why it wasn’t possible: finances, timing, logistics… the list felt endless. Recently, I realized many of those “reasons” were actually my own mindset holding me back — patterns I had learned over time that kept me playing it safe. Once I started looking at possibilities instead of obstacles, things began to shift. I stopped focusing on why I couldn’t do this and started focusing on why I could.
Now, I can think of a million reasons to make this dream happen. I’ve sought guidance from people who have done this before, and I’m taking steps every day to bring it to life. I figure, I have two choices I can do things daily to move toward my dream or move away from it. I choose to move toward it. This journey isn’t just about building a homestead — it’s about creating a life that reflects my values, my creativity, and the kind of connection I want to foster in the world.
Starting Small: Candles and Creativity
One of the first tangible steps I’ve taken is starting my candle line. I’ve always loved candles, but this is my own creation — a way to bring warmth, comfort, and a little cozy magic into homes. Every candle I make is part of this larger journey. From Pumpkin Spice and Snickerdoodle to Apple Cinnamon, each scent reflects a little piece of the homestead lifestyle I’m building.
Every sale helps me move closer to the homestead dream. Right now, I’m running a Buy 1 – 16 oz, Get 1- 8 oz candle FREE sale, and each candle purchased gets me one step closer to creating this life.
Workshops, Retreats, and Community
The homestead is about more than me — it’s about community, learning, and hands-on experiences. I plan to host workshops on candle making, canning, and other homesteading skills I’m learning along the way. I also envision retreats for women focused on mindset, connection, and self-worth. For kids, I hope to offer summer day camps where they can learn farm skills, build confidence, and explore life on a homestead.
It’s about creating a space where people can step away from screens, connect with one another, and experience hands-on learning in a supportive environment.
Living Intentionally and Giving Back
This homestead is a place to practice intentional living. It’s about growing food, caring for animals, and sharing skills with others. It’s about offering workshops, seasonal events, and retreats that give back to the community. Even though the dream isn’t fully realized yet, I’m documenting the journey to share the process, the lessons, and the small wins along the way.
Why I’m Sharing My Journey
I share this because mindset matters. I’ve spent too many years letting doubt dictate what I thought was possible. Now, I’m focusing on possibilities and taking action. By sharing this journey, I hope to connect with people who are aligned with this vision — whether that’s through learning, inspiration, or supporting the homestead in some way.
